"Our project question was an inventory research on the possibilities of 3D printing outsoles for Orthopaedic shoes. The candidate and the outcome of the research gave NM4Y a big head start, NM4Y would not be able to achieve the same results without the cooperation with SLEM."

- Olav Toorned, COO at NM4Y

The project starts with a specific brief and project question, which is defined together, and based on a useful innovative aspect for your company, such as the start-up of a new R&D department or the answer to a new development question.
Should an external candidate be desired, for example to test if they could be a suitable new staff member, then SLEM selects professionals based on desired and relevant skill sets and experiences as well as SLEM’s own standards. After the selection the content of the 9-month program will be specified together with a SLEM consultant to guarantee a successful outcome of the initial brief.

Candidates will then begin the Professional Footwear Innovation program together with colleagues from various backgrounds, to create a unique environment for sharing and connecting knowledge across the footwear industries. The program involves expert insights into new materials, innovative prototyping, sustainable business and smart manufacturing, all of which stimulate candidates to develop forward thinking strategies and find competitive advantages in the market. After three months in Europe there is a four-week excursion in China that covers all aspects of modern footwear manufacturing. Visits to manufacturers who offer the latest technologies such as 3D printing, robotics, knitting and wearable technology are also included. The final part of the program focuses exclusively on the innovative project for the company, this could take place at SLEM’s campus, elsewhere, or in-house at your company.

Moreover, the program content is also tailored to the needs of each company to ensure an applicable and industry ready result. Previous editions included candidates from companies such as Wortmann and Stahl.
