WindNomaden – Oerol - 2009
As a response to the theme of Oerol 2009 ‘gras tussen de planken’ (Grass between the planks) SLeM introduced the theme ‘follow suit’ by situating large moving paintings at Terschelling. Three hundred eighty artists were asked to paint a WindNomad. The paintings were standing in groups on the never-ending Noordsvaarder wad, the tide as a prevailing actor. With every day live music and servile waiters, an atmosphere of a continuous vernissage was recalled. In the meanwhile, the audience were losing themselves in the gently, on the breeze moving, landscape of paintings. All painted with exceptional care and attention for detail.
A film-report was made about the development and production of the WindNomads; including interviews with artists about the theme ‘follow suit’, the photo shoot at Zeeburgereiland in Amsterdam and the installation at Oerol, see videos.
WindNomaden Journey – 2009/2014
After a successful run at the Oerol festival the WindNomads traveled to New York to listen in on the festivities around the Hudson-year in September 2009. In the four years here after, the WindNomad installation traveled in varying combinations to sixteen other locations in the Netherlands, including the Floriade in Venlo 2012.
