Flashmob Landscapes – Oerol - 2012
Part of the Oerol Festival in June 2012, at West Terschelling, visitors of the festival moved along on the waves that give form to the landscape and they experienced the forces that are constantly pushing and pulling the island.
In between the North and the Wadden Sea are the drifting dunes, shady forests, inhabited sand ridges, polders, though dikes and lush marshes that form a wonderful relationship which are continuously changing.
We are often barely aware of the importance of this dynamic relief rich landscape. The aim of the Flashmob Landscapes was creating this awareness. Flashmob Landscapes experimented with the creating forces that are giving form to this island. In a playful way participants experienced how the island is exposed to the energy of the wind, sea, currents, sun, gravity and human activity. Participants shared a collective experience of the forces that make the island a living piece of art. At several locations along the coastline, different energetic site-specific stories are being told. It results in surprising and unique experiences.
All theatre locations of Flashmob Landscapes are recorded on video. The videos are posted on this website, see videos.
